signify something powerful - a reflection on African heritage, slavery, dance or liberty.

My carvings tend to absorb the female form, reflecting its beauty and complexity. The work articulates the often uneasy balance of being a woman of colour yet able being able to command respect and attention. The deep smooth texture and undertones of the wood only serve to highlight an erotic quality which is a potent and forceful element.

Nature of Artwork:
The collection is inspired by African themes and culture. It is a celebration of nature and the natural life force of a nation and its people. The physiological and psychological shackles of slavery also focus prominently.

"I say that the art of sculpture is eight times as great as any other art based on drawing, because a statue has eight views and they must all be equally well made."

Customer comment on 'Egret on Alert (Standing Water Bird Wader sculpture)' by Kenneth Potts
Ken, Peter

Thank you both, and especially of course Ken, for your trouble over the
egret sculpture. I am very glad to say that it is now installed in our
garden, and we are delighted with it. Lucy has decided it should be called
Elgar, in memory of the work you are currently doing, Ken.

I attach a couple of pictures showing Elgar the Egret on his stand and in
his setting above the rockery by the pond.
